Hard work for Fabian Cancellara in today's 39km long team time trial that starts and finishes in Montpellier. He took the majority of the leader duties for his team. Cancellara and his team dropped 40 seconds in the 4th stage to Armstrong's Astana team, riding into third place.

Cancellara and Armstrong now have the same overall times. The Swiss native continues to lead in the overall rankings, however.

That's because he finished only 137 thousandths behind the official top time during the first stage, a time trial in Monaco. Armstrong finished 350/1000 off the lead.

"The world's most precise watches come from Switzerland. That's why it's fitting," Cancellara says.

He pulled on the Yellow Jersey for the 13th time. That makes Cancellara the Swiss record holder.

He had previously shared the honour with Ferdi Kübler.
