I took extra care today at the start of the 30km Tour of Spain time trial. After temperatures of over 40 degrees yesterday, it was raining again for the first time today. There was oil on several sections of the Formula 1 track, which made it very slippery.

I really didn't want to risk another fall, particularly after sliding off the pedals yesterday, when I went down, and knocked my knee on the handlebars and with still feeling some pain in my hips from the mass crash on Tuesday. In the second half of the race I cranked up the speed, but without taking too big a risk.

It was particularly great to be encouraged by my Swiss Fans who shouted and cheered from the roadside. The Golden Jersey, which I reclaimed by winning this stage, is an additional bonus but not the most important thing.

Although I am obviously very pleased with my win, I'm still not where I want to go, what I want to achieve. Thus, I am glad that it is going up the mountains tomorrow.

This will allow me to properly toughen up for the World Championships in Switzerland. I hope you have a wonderful Sunday Fabian.
